Guestlink and DMS
Destination Management System and Guestlink
Dover District Council recently invested along
with our East Kent Partners in a new Destination Management System
(DMS). The data on our Destination Management System
populates our White Cliffs Country website and is also pushed up to
Visit Britain and Kent Tourism sites via Englandnet.
Accommodation providers are able to update
their availability via a system called Guestlink and inputting
their availability on a regular basis not only updates Dover
Visitor Information Centre (VIC) and the White Cliffs Country
website but information also shows on Visit Britain, Enjoy England
and Kent Tourism sites.
Guestlink Facts
- You can update your information to include special offers,
contact and room details.
- You can also update your pricing.
- Allocated or Indicated availability -
Allocated means that you can allow the VIC or a contact centre to
make the booking on your behalf without contacting you. Indicated
will mean that we will contact you to confirm availability on
behalf of the customer, whether it’s a face to face or website
booking.
- Regardless of which method you choose it is
important that when you sell a room, you update your
details.
- Those updating will go to the top on the
website and the VIC availability lists (the VIC listing will be
available to all VIC’s with an interoperable DMS, allowing them to
book direct with you)
- Input your own terms and conditions
- Obtain statistical information relating to
your business bookings.
- For those without a computer you can update
via touch tone or
fax.

Europe for All and Self Assessment Forms
There are around 45 million people in Europe
with a wide range of disabilities. There is a common
misconception that disability is restricted to those suffering from
reduced physical mobility. Disability is actually defined as
anybody with a condition which impacts on their normal day-to-day
activities. Some examples include Diabetes, Arthritis, MS
etc.
Europe for All is a European funded project
aimed at empowering people with access needs to find reliable
information in their own language and to be able to find
accommodation, attractions and events that meet their
requirements.
Accessible Tourism can bring great business
potential – it is estimated that around 2.7 million disabled
visitors in the UK alone regularly travel, often with carers.
Self-assessment forms were sent to all accredited accommodation
and attraction providers within the district, and an encouraging
number have now been returned. This information is being added to
the DMS and when entered, will show on the bottom of your details
on our website.
