Our Nature

A long, unspoiled coastline, rich chalk grasslands and a thriving patchwork of meadows, farms and forests contrive to make this a wonderful spot for nature in all her glorious forms.

At the Sandwich Bay Observatory discover bird rarities such as the Golden Plover and Little Tern. The Lizard Orchids grow here in greater numbers than anywhere in Britain.

Recently opened Fowlmead Country Park is another local triumph. An £18 million project has turned the former slag heaps from the Betteshanger Colliery into a rolling panorama of woodland, country walks, lakes and top class cycling facilities.

Perfect for families, lots of activities are planned for the holidays including archery, nature trailing, pond dipping and fossil collecting. See our website for further details www.whitecliffscountry.org.uk
