A 200-year-old former village inn has been converted into a luxury boutique hotel and fine dining restaurant in the heart of Kent’s picturesque Alkham Valley, near Dover and Folkestone. Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Marquis offers a seasonally inspired menu created by their head Chef Stephen Piddock.
Supported by a team of chefs from some of the best restaurants in Kent, Stephen prides himself on his contemporary cuisine. The emphasis is on robust, fresh flavours and locally sourced ingredients – whether it’s the catch of the day landed by the local fishing boats, rabbit from the Alkham Valley, or wild herbs foraged straight from the countryside.
The building has been stripped back to its original brickwork, extended, refurbished, and furnished to provide a luxury contemporary style and elegance in a rural setting. The Marquis’s ten individually designed bedrooms, all of which boast sumptuous furniture and fabrics, flat screen TV, contemporary bathrooms, towelling robes and the finest toiletries.
