Updown Farm dining and rooms

Updown Farm, the brand-new restaurant with rooms from Oliver Brown and Ruth Leigh, located in a 17th-Century Grade II-listed farmhouse in Deal, is now open for dining and accommodation.

The beautifully restored farmhouse and grounds are set within seven and a half acres of rolling Kent countryside, just fifteen minutes from the popular coastal town of Deal. Seven rooms, including two cottages, reflect the house’s unique character, hidden within its own magical woodland and mature wildflower gardens.

On Updown’s Secret Garden-esque terrace, guests can enjoy a cool cocktail amidst the blooming wisteria and hanging vines, before being invited to delight in Oli's seasonal menu, featuring produce from the nearby Goods Shed, prize-winning butcher The Black Pig and fishmonger Jenkins and Son.

Dishes will change along with the seasons and suppliers, but guests can expect plates such as Raw Sea Bass with Almonds & Cherries and Grilled Lamb Chump with Broad Beans, Artichokes & Bagna Cauda. In the outdoor kitchen, the chefs cook everything to order in an impressive bakers’ oven, built into the stable wall.
