Spring in Dover, Deal and Sandwich

As the colours of Spring bloom in White Cliffs Country, it will soon be the perfect time to...

  • Get those walking boots on and explore!

  • Dust off your bicycle and take advantage of some great cycle routes. If your cycle needs a little DIY then check out our list of cycle repair shops. If you haven't got a bicycle then there are plenty of places to hire one.

  • Get up close to nature. Take advantage of beautiful outdoor spaces such as Samphire Hoe and Betteshanger Park, where you can explore open countryside and see wildlife in its natural environment. Across White Cliffs Country you will find plenty of information boards with descriptions of the flora and fauna found in this unique destination. Our woodlands provide wonderful displays of wild flowers such as lesser celandine, wood anemone, yellow archangel, violets and bluebells. Early Purple Orchids can be spotted in April and early May, and Early Spider Orchids first appear in March. And of course, don't forget the White Cliffs of Dover - the perfect place for a nature trail.

  • Coo over the baby animals born at this time of year that you will notice all over White Cliffs Country, from fluffy lambs frolicking in the fields near Walmer Castle to the goslings and ducklings given shelter by the beautiful waters of Kearsney Abbey.

  • Visit our gardens such as Pines Garden and Goodnestone Park Gardens to enjoy a world of spring flowers such as snowdrops, daffodils, tulips and bluebells.

  • Listen to birdsong. Birds such as the various tits, finches and warblers of Kent woodland will be marking their territories.

  • Visit our What's On page to discover upcoming events planned in White Cliffs Country.

  • Make plans to visit our local Attractions, which may have been closed over the winter months but which may now be preparing to open - remember to Know Before You Go.
