Travelling by land to White Cliffs Country

White Cliffs Country is an easy destination to visit from anywhere in the world and is within easy access from all major London airports by rail and road.

Around one hour from central London by train (High Speed 1), connected by two motorways (M20 and M2), White Cliffs Country couldn't be easier to visit, discover and explore.

  • Car / Motorbike 

    White Cliffs Country is within quick and easy reach of both the M2 and M20, the motorway links to/from London and beyond.

    The M25 is around 1 hour 10 minutes from Dover via the A20/M20 or A2/M2.

    There is plenty of parking within the district, all easily accessible from main routes. For details on parking please refer to the below 'Car Parking and Charging' section.

  • Driving and Speed Limits

    You must keep to the speed limit for the type of road and type of vehicle. For cars, motorcycles, car-derived vans and dual-purpose vehicles the speed limits are as follows; in built up areas 30 mph (miles per hour), single carriageways 60 mph, dual carriageways and motorways 70 mph. This is just general advise, check road signs for the speed limit that applies for example built up areas may be 20 mph.

  • Car Parking and Charging

    There is plenty of parking within the White Cliffs Country, all easily accessible from main routes. You can pay by credit/debit cards, cash and euros.

    Please take a look at the Dover District Council website for details of council car parks in Dover, Deal and Sandwich. Dover District Council also own and maintain a number of free car parks.

    The Port of Dover operate the following car parks; Union Street Car Pack, Cruise Terminal and Eastern Docks. Please take a look at the Port of Dover website for details.

    Only 15 minutes from the Port of Dover is the Stop 24 service station with toilets and shower facilities. Please take a look at the Stop 24 website for details.

    Relyon car parking operates a Park and Ride service with buses going to both Dover Eastern Docks and Cruise Terminals. Please take a look at the Reylon website for details.

    Travelling by rail in White Cliffs Country couldn’t be easier with plenty of train stations including: Dover Priory, Deal, Sandwich, Walmer, Martin Mill, Shepherdswell, Kearsney, Adisham and Ayelsham

    There are regular Southeastern train services to London St Pancras, London Waterloo, London Charing Cross and London Victoria.

    Southeastern's Javelin High Speed service (High Speed One) travels between Sandwich, Deal, Walmer, Martin Mill or Dover and London St Pancras. The journey from London St Pancras and Dover Priory takes just over one hour - which is perfect for a day trip to the coast!

    • Eurotunnel (Cars to/from Folkestone to/from Calais in 35 minutes)

    Dover is only 15 minutes away from the Channel Tunnel (vehicles only to/from Calais).

    Eurotunnel Le Shuttle is easily reached from Junction 11a on the M20. Taking just 35 minutes to Calais, it is a popular choice when taking your car.

    • Eurostar (High speed passenger train to/from Ashford, Ebbsfleet or London to/from France)

    Dover is only 25 minutes from the International Passenger Station at Ashford and approximately one hour away from Ebbsfleet which is now the main International Station.

    • Trainline

    Trainline is Europe's leading train and coach app, working with 207 rail and coach companies to offer customers travel to thousands of destinations in and across 44 countries in Europe.

  • Coach

    National Express operates frequent coach travel between London, Dover and Deal. Change at London Victoria for coaches to the rest of the UK. 

    Eurolines coach services travel across Europe departing the UK at Dover Port.

  • Coach and Minibus Parking

  • Bus

    There is a regular bus service within White Cliffs Country offering single, return and megarider tickets. Check with the service provider, Stagecoach, for the correct fare for your journey and requirements.

  • Taxis

    There are a few different local taxi firms operating in White Cliffs Country. All Taxis are required to have a license.

  • Bike 

    There are plenty of cycle routes throughout White Cliffs Country. Pick up one of the Walking and Cycling Guides from one of the Visitor Information Centres for inspiration.

  • Walk

    Walking is a great way to get around White Cliffs Country, with many routes for the keen rambler or town explorer. Walking enables you to connect the places and discover something in between.
