Cycling in White Cliffs Country

It's the smart way to get around! White Cliffs Country in Kent is the perfect place for cycling, with a great selection of cycle routes following our striking coastline and weaving through our picturesque countryside. Why not come and explore this unique destination where ancient meets modern and England meets Europe on two wheels?

For example - follow National Cycle Network Route 1 (Dover to Deal - Deal to Sandwich) to take in the three coastal castles of Dover Castle, Walmer Castle and Deal Castle together with the Roman Fort at Richborough. Challenge yourself with a steep climb up towards the world-famous White Cliffs of Dover, then head downhill to Deal - or avoid the intensity of the hilly stretch by taking the train for part of the way! From Deal to Sandwich is mostly traffic-free and you'll head past three world-famous golf courses and Sandwich Bird Observatory before arriving into the centre of Sandwich - once described as "the completest medieval town in Britain."

You can hire a bike while you're in White Cliffs Country - or bring your own bike with you, of course - and take advantage of our quiet country lanes, designated cycle paths and coastal tracks. There are even places where you can take your bike and cycle safely off-road - such as Betteshanger Park near Deal, which offers 10km of rugged mountain bike trails to explore on your cycling adventure.
