Golf in White Cliffs Country

It might not be the first thing that’s associated with White Cliffs Country, but there’s some great golfing to be enjoyed here! There are no fewer than three coastal championship links courses to play on. You can even tee off on the world-famous white cliffs themselves, at the Walmer & Kingsdown Golf Club. This unique course delivers stunning sea views across the English Channel to the French coast. It’s one of only a few courses anywhere in the world where golfers can glimpse another country while enjoying a round!

The Royal St George’s Club in Sandwich has hosted many major tournaments, including The Open. In fact, in 1894, it was here that the Open Championship was first played outside Scotland. Its challenging 18-hole course is consistently ranked as one of the best in the world. Watch out for when the ‘The Open Championship’ returns to White Cliffs Country for the 18th time with ‘The 149th Open’ coming to Royal St George’s Golf Club in July 2021!

Prince’s Golf Club – another championship golf course – is a must for all links lovers, thanks to its idyllic coasting setting. It even offers on-site accommodation at The Lodge, overlooking the course and Sandwich Bay.

The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club hosts a number of prestigious open competitions throughout the year, including ‘Deal Week’. One of the UK’s finest links courses, it offers superb golf all year round.

Think golf, think White Cliffs Country!
