Smugglers Festival Presents
Hannah Moule & The Moulettes & The John Martyn Project at St Mary's Arts Centre
The prolific and reconfigured Moulettes have written 55 pieces of music, releasing five EPs over the last two years. Each EP is born of uniquely formed bands, telling a story of connection and communication in five forms; Strings, Horns, A Cappella, Electronica & Electric. The ensembles feature some of our favourite, insanely talented musicians, including the likes of Nick Cave, Bonobo, Anchorsong, Alabaster dePlume, Floating points, Seasick Steve, The Levellers, Unthanks, Falle Nioke, Rioghnach Connolly, and Ayanna Witter-Johnson.
The Strings Ensemble are pushing what can be done with a traditional chamber ensemble, moving between classical & steel string Guitars, Cellos, Viola, Piano, Violin, Harp, Nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed fiddle) Percussion & close trademark use of harmony vocals.
Now Hannah is bringing her Strings Ensemble to tour the UK, including their fifth performance at Glastonbury, they continue to be equally at home in a warehouse, concert hall, brewery, church or the backroom of a discworld tavern. This particular Smugglers show is set to be one-of-a-kind with a double headline act with The John Martyn Project.
