Heligan Goes To Hell - Lost English Gardens at the Astor
An illustrated talk by Christopher Cook
The late Victorian era followed by the long Edwardian summer before the Great War were a golden age for English country-house gardening. In August 1914 the under-gardeners and the apprentices marched off to war and few returned, and so their great gardens began their melancholy decline.
Christopher Cook explores famous gardens of the past, including the Lost Garden of Heligan, with plenty of illustrated examples.
