Series of lectures starting on 13th February with a talk entitled Richborough – The Secret Port in World War One by Dr Martin Watts, telling the amazing story of how a fully functioning port, with accommodation for thousands was established in 1917. It introduced roll-on-roll off shipping and transformed transport to and from the Western Front, whilst its secrecy sparked controversy.
Come along to the Jury Room at The Guildhall, Sandwich from 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Non-members are very welcome – just £2 at the door.
