The Events Safety Advisory Group is a 'one stop shop' providing support and guidance to all event organisers. The group is made up of representatives from:

  • Dover District Council
  • Emergency services
  • Kent Highways

The group works with event organisers to ensure their event satisfies any legal, health and safety and licensing requirements.

Temporary Event Notices (TENs)

Temporary event notices allow you to carry out ‘licensable activities’ in premises that don't have a licence for that activity. Licensable activities include:

  • selling alcohol
  • serving alcohol to members of a private club
  • providing entertainment, such as music, dancing or indoor sporting events
  • serving hot food or drink between 11pm and 5am

Applying for a licence is formally known as ‘serving’ a Temporary Event Notice. You will also need a TEN if a particular licensable activity is not included in the terms of your existing licence, for example, holding a wedding reception at a community centre.

Promote your event

An event is nothing without a crowd. The What's On pages on our website are the go-to listings for events in the district, viewed by thousands of people and included in our weekly What's On email bulletin which is sent to over 4,700 accounts. We are happy to list any event taking place in the district that is open to the public FREE of charge. However, please note we do not list very small local events, such as coffee mornings or small fetes, etc.

Please complete this online form and send us high-quality images to illustrate the listing:

You can also submit your event to be listed on Visit Kent's website via this simple online form. Please note that not all events will be accepted.
