As part of Butterfly Conservation’s Big Butterfly Count, join Ranger Lauren for a walk around part of the Western Heights. Everyone will have their own recording sheet and Lauren will be on hand to help point out key identifying features as we spot the butterflies. We will also keep our eyes peeled for other insects visiting the wildflowers on site too.
This survey will take you across the Western Heights from St Martins Battery view point to the Drop Redoubt where you will need to navigate uneven paths, narrow tunnels and steps and will be approximately 2km long walk.
This free event has been made possible with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players, supporting English Heritage’s Reaching Greater Height Project & Dover District Council’s Historic England funded ‘Western Heights Heritage and Regeneration Project’.
Photos and videos will be taken during this event to support the projects.
A photo consent form will be handed out at the start of the event.
This event is suitable for those aged 5+. Children must be accompanied at all times.
