First launched in 2015, Sandwich Arts Week looks forward to another successful year with its extensive exhibition of local artists work in St Mary’s Arts Centre and the celebration of film, music, writing, theatre and poetry in venues throughout Sandwich.
13 to 20 September
St Mary’s Arts Centre will be displaying the work of local and Sandwich-based artists, much of which will be available to buy

A display of bee-related poems and images in and around the apiary at St Clement’s Church. A graveyard tour at St Clement’s, to include a number of significant graves and the stories relating to them.
13 September
Exhibition and craft fair at Age Concern, Cattle Market
Displays of dollhouses, dioramas and small boats; local artisan craft stalls galore; competitions & prize draws; tea, coffee, savouries, cakes, pastries.
6pm - Official opening reception. The Mayor of Sandwich will declare the exhibition open. A free glass of wine for all. Johnny Hepbir will play gypsy jazz.
14 September
Cyanotype Workshop with David Silk
11am-1pm at St Mary’s Arts Centre
Back by popular demand, this session invites you to discover the magic of this unique and creative process. Under expert guidance, you’ll be shown how to produce your own handmade artwork.
Painting Demonstration with Helen Taylor
2pm at St Mary’s Arts Centre
Join renowned artist Helen Taylor for a captivating live painting demonstration that reveals the secrets behind her celebrated techniques. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or an art enthusiast, this is a rare opportunity to gain insight into the mind and methods of one of the East Kents most respected painters.

Illustrated lecture ‘The Sun Is God’
7pm in the Jury Room, Guildhall
The lecturer, Dr Matthew Morgan, is an art historian, Arts Society lecturer and was Museum Director of Turner’s House. Working in the heritage sector, he has contributed to TV and radio documentaries and worked at the V&A, National Gallery and the Royal Collection.

Sketch Club
