Stroll below the famous White Cliffs of Dover at Samphire Hoe, a 30-hectare nature reserve and exceptional site for biodiversity, created from chalk marl excavated from the construction of the Channel Tunnel.

Samphire Hoe has already received 15 Green Flag and 6 South and South East in Bloom Awards, two distinctions awarded to the most outstanding green areas for their high environmental quality and contribution to local communities.

The rare chalk grassland habitat to which Samphire Hoe has become home is a haven for wildlife, with up to 40 species of flowering plants to be found in one square metre. Look up and you might see kestrels hawking above; look down and scarce beautiful wildflowers can be seen along the paths. Look out across the sea to distant views of France, from the peace and tranquillity of a unique country park setting. Visit the education shelter with its woodburning stoves and displays. Hot and cold drinks and snacks are available from a refreshments kiosk.

Signposted from the A20 west of Dover. Open 7am till dusk every day.

Samphire Hoe is owned by Eurotunnel and managed together with the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership.
