Step aboard the Blue Mermaid, a replica of a traditional Thames sailing barge, on Sandwich Quay and discover the history of these wonderful vessels, Sandwich Heritage Harbour Trust, the town's maritime heritage and more.

The Blue Mermaid entered service in 2019 and is operated by the Sea-Change Sailing Trust. It provides residential opportunities for young people and vulnerable adults to learn and develop in a unique environment.
The barge will set sail from Brightlingsea on Tuesday 11 August and will arrive at Sandwich Quay on Saturday 15 August and will be moored there until Sunday 23 August. During this time, the vessel will be open to the public during the day and will host a variety of events in the evening (see below).
