Bring in the May! A short circular walk around Sandwich celebrating the seasonal folklore, customs and traditions of May. Led by writer, walking artist and psychogeographer Sonia Overall.

What to expect:

  • Welcome refreshments and a seasonal treat to enjoy en route.
  • A circular walk beginning and ending at an accessible location, with public car park nearby.
  • Easy town-centre terrain, involving some narrow lanes.
  • An introduction to the folklore and customs of May.
  • Readings, song, and light-hearted ritual actions, including gathering and decorating a may garland as we walk.
  • A seasonal folk tract to walk with and take home. Following the event there will be further celebrations at the Medieval Centre, including live music and the lighting of the Sandwich beacon - so why not stay on and make a night of it?

Tickets for the folkwalk are limited and must be booked in advance.

Suitable for ages 16+
