In 1226, Sandwich was one of the first towns outside of London to install a mayor, highlighting its significance as a port. Terry Palmer, SHS committee member and town guide, will give a talk on the mayoralty of Sandwich using examples of various mayors from its long history.

6.30pm for 7.00pm start.

The lecture is free but a suggested donation of £5 by attendees with any profit going to the Mayor’s Fund
