Ideally situated on the beach and on a cycle route (National Route 1) by Walmer Sea Scout Hut, you can cycle all the way to historic Sandwich along the stunning Ancient Highway or head to St Margaret’s Bay and Dover. Edging your way along the stunning coastline, take in the sea views and explore more of the lovely towns, castles and the historic landmarks en route with minimal road cycling, which makes it ideal for families.

Hut 55 offers bike and electric bike hire by the hour, day or longer and has adults' and kids’ peddle bikes available, along with child seats and trailers. The hut is also a cafe, so not only can you hire bikes you can also buy something delicious before you set off!

Betteshanger Park, Deal

Cycling facilities and trail management at Betteshanger is under the care of The Betteshanger Bike Project, a community-focused organisation dedicated to developing, maintaining and growing cycling opportunities at the park. There is a smooth, traffic-free 3-km tarmac track, perfect for road cycling and families, and 10km of off-road mountain biking trails. One hour bike hire for children aged 8 and over and adults is £8/bike and £2/helmet. There is no charge for children under 8.

Destination Dover Bike Hire, Dover

Dover’s popular bike hire scheme makes it easier than ever to explore the town on two wheels. Available from April to September, the scheme gives you the freedom to discover Dover at your own pace. You'll need to download the Destination Dover Bike Hire app (Apple Store and Google Play Store) to access the hire agreement and pay. Bike hire stops are at:

  • Dover Market Square
  • Dover seafront
  • Dover Castle coach park
  • Dover Priory train station 
  • White Cliffs of Dover National Trust Visitor Centre

A mobile bike service that can repair/service your bike outside your door. If the job is a tricky one, they will take your bike (on a Thule bike rack) to their bike surgery unit and bring it back working again. They offer a range of services to bring better performance and reliability to your bike from a Simple Service (general clean, chain degrease and relubricate, rim/disc and brake pad clean) through to a Gold Service (including a brake check, wheel hubs stripped and serviced, bottom bracket service and more).
