Come rain or shine, there are plenty of things to see and do during the school holiday this half term.
The first River Runner boat trip for 2026 is on Saturday 14 February, with further trips on Sunday 15, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 February. Join the boat at Sandwich Quay, wrap up warm, bring hot drinks and enjoy a trip where you'll learn about the river's history, amazing wildlife and beautiful seal colony. Don’t worry about the weather - there is a full roof and canopy to keep the rain off. Advance booking essential.
Wingham Wildlife Park has a packed week of activities and there is always something amazing to see, including capybara babies and a rare orangutan baby! There's an indoor play area for younger children if the weather is particularly rough. A very special pink guest is visiting on Monday 16 February (see below).
Hopefully the rain will pause for long enough to let you get outdoors to see the very early signs of spring. Head to Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory where you can explore the site and watch birds from one of the hides on the reserves. Samphire Hoe is also a great place to explore and there are drop in activities on 14 and 21 February.
Dover Transport Museum, packed with all forms of transport and fascinating displays, reopens after the winter on Sunday 15 February and again on Wednesday 18 and Sunday 22 February.
Explore Dover Castle's Great Tower, the Secret Wartime Tunnels and other areas of this magnificent historic attraction - ideal for a jam-packed day out. Nearby Walmer Castle & Gardens is also a wonderful place to visit - see if you can spot signs of spring in the award-winning gardens, including lots of snowdrops. Buy tickets in advance online and save 15% (free entry to English Heritage members).
